Dance me to the end of love by Leonard Cohen

Title:                           Dance me to the end of love
Lyrics:                        Leonard Cohen
Music:                        Leonard Cohen
Release:                     1984, album Various Positions
Performers:               Leonard Cohen

"Dance Me to the End of Love" is a 1984 song by Leonard Cohen and first recorded by him for his 1984 album Various Positions. The song follows a typical Greek "Hasapiko" dance path, most probably inspired by Cohen's long lasting affiliation to the Greek island of Hydra. It has since been recorded by various artists, and has been described as "trembling on the brink of becoming a standard".
Although structured as a love song, "Dance Me to the End Of Love" was in fact inspired by the Holocaust. In an interview, Cohen said of the song:
“it's curious how songs begin because the origin of the song, every song, has a kind of grain or seed that somebody hands you or the world hands you and that's why the process is so mysterious about writing a song. But that came from just hearing or reading or knowing that in the death camps, beside the crematoria, in certain of the death camps, a string quartet was pressed into performance while this horror was going on, those were the people whose fate was this horror also. And they would be playing classical music while their fellow prisoners were being killed and burnt. So, that music, "Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin," meaning the beauty there of being the consummation of life, the end of this existence and of the passionate element in that consummation. But, it is the same language that we use for surrender to the beloved, so that the song — it’s not important that anybody knows the genesis of it, because if the language comes from that passionate resource, it will be able to embrace all passionate activity.”
Lyrics

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Lift me like an olive branch and be my homeward dove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Oh, let me see your beauty when the witnesses are gone
Let me feel you moving like they do in Babylon
Show me slowly what I only know the limits of
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to the children who are asking to be born
Dance me through the curtains that our kisses have outworn
Raise a tent of shelter now, though every thread is torn
Dance me to the end of love

Dance me to your beauty with a burning violin
Dance me through the panic till I'm gathered safely in
Touch me with your naked hand or touch me with your glove
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Dance me to the end of love
Scottish painter Jack Vettriano, who is perhaps mostly famous for his painting: The singing Butler, also painted Dance me to the end of love, that was inspired by this song.

'I love playing around with lyrics when I’m thinking of titles. Dance Me To The End Of Love is a Leonard Cohen song. When I first did the painting I had the couples dancing across the canvas from left to right, but then I changed it and had them dancing away from each other into the distance'

English adaptation:  My way
Performers:               Paul Anka, Frank Sinatra
Comme D`habitude Parole

Je me lève
Et je te bouscule
Tu ne te réveilles pas
Comme d'habitude

Sur toi je remonte le drap
J'ai peur que tu aies froid
Comme d'habitude

Ma main caresse tes cheveux
Presque malgré moi
Comme d'habitude

Mais toi tu me tournes le dos
Comme d'habitude

Alors je m'habille très vite
Je sors de la chambre
Comme d'habitude

Tout seul je bois mon café
Je suis en retard
Comme d'habitude

Sans bruit je quitte la maison
Tout est gris dehors
Comme d'habitude

J'ai froid, je relève mon col
Comme d'habitude
Comme d'habitude

Toute la journée
Je vais jouer à faire semblant
Comme d'habitude

Je vais sourire
Comme d'habitude

Je vais même rire
Comme d'habitude

Enfin je vais vivre
Comme d'habitude

Et puis le jour s'en ira
Moi je reviendrai
Comme d'habitude

Tu seras sortie
Et pas encore rentrée
Comme d'habitude

Tout seul j'irai me coucher
Dans ce grand lit froid
Comme d'habitude

Mes larmes, je les cacherai
Comme d'habitude
Comme d'habitude

Même la nuit
Je vais jouer à faire semblant
Comme d'habitude

Tu rentreras
Comme d'habitude

Je t'attendrai
Comme d'habitude

Tu me souriras
Comme d'habitude
Comme d'habitude

Tu te déshabilleras
Comme d'habitude

Tu te coucheras
Comme d'habitude

On s'embrassera
Comme d'habitude

My way Lyrics

And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain

I've lived a life that's full
I've traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption

I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all, all so amusing

To think I did all that

And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh no, no, not me
I did it my way

For what is man, what has he got?

If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way

And did it my way

Parole:

Me parle des amours mortes

Dites-le-moi

Dites-le-moi

Un petit village, un vieux clocher
Un paysage si bien caché
Et dans un nuage le cher visage
De mon passé
De mon passé

Parole Francais
(Parolier: Bruno Coulais)

English lyrics:

Oh night, come and bring the Earth
The calm charm of your mystery
The shadow that escorts it is so sweet
so sweet is the concert of your fingers
singing hope
So great is your transforming power
while in a happy dream

Oh night, stay on  the Earth a little longer
The calm charm of your mystery
The shadow that comes with you is so sweet
Is there any beauty as beautiful as the dream?
Is there a truth sweeter than hope?

Vivo Per Lei

Title: Vivo Per Lei
Time and place of Release: 1995, Italy
Music: Mauro Mengali, Valerio Zelli
Lyrics: Annamaria Alibani (under penance of Giliath)

Initially titled "Vivo per...", It was originally interpreted in 1995 by Italian band Onde Radio Ovest, with Mauro Mengali and Valerio Zelli as singers.

It did not get immediate success until a few months later, but the massive popularity of the song is thanks to Italian singer Andrea Bocelli. The Italian lyricist Gatto Panceri changed the title to Vivo per lei, and also changed the lyrics accordingly, making the song a dedication of love to music instead of a person, which is less romantic but very fitting for the blind singer Andrea Bocelli.

Andrea Bocelli first interpreted this song with Italian female singer Giorgia(Giorgia Todrani) in Italian, then with different female singers of different countries singing in their corresponding languages.
Vivo Per Lei Italian lyrics / Testo Italiano

Vivo per lei da quando sai
La prima volta l'ho incontrata
Non mi ricordo come, ma
Mi entrata dentro e c'è restata
Vivo per lei perché mi fa
Vibrare forte l'anima
Vivo per lei e non è un peso
Vivo per lei anch'io lo sai
E tu non esserne geloso
Lei è di tutti quelli che
Hanno un bisogno sempre acceso
Come uno stereo in camera
Di chi è da solo e adesso sa
Che anche per lui, per questo
Io vivo per lei
È una musa che ci invita
A sfiorarla con le dita
Attraverso un pianoforte
La morte lontana
Io vivo per lei
Vivo per lei che spesso sa
Essere dolce e sensuale
A volte picchia in testa, ma
È un pugno che non fa mai male
Vivo per lei, lo so mi fa
Girare di città in città
Soffrire un po', ma almeno io vivo
È un dolore quando parte
Vivo per lei dentro gli hotels
Con piacere estremo cresce
Vivo per lei nel vortice
Attraverso la mia voce
Si espande e amore produce
Vivo per lei nient'altro ho
E quanti altri incontrerò
Che come me hanno scritto in viso
Io vivo per lei
Io vivo per lei
Sopra un palco o contro un muro
Vivo per lei al limite
Anche in un domani duro
Vivo per lei al margine
Ogni giorno una conquista
La protagonista
Sarà sempre lei
Vivo per lei perché oramai
Io non ho altra via d'uscita
Perché la musica, lo sai
Davvero non l'ho mai tradita
Vivo per lei perché mi dà
Pause e note in libertà
Ci fosse un'altra vita la vivo
La vivo per lei
Vivo per lei la musica
Io vivo per lei
Vivo per lei, è unica
Io vivo per lei
Io vivo per lei
Io vivo per lei
Io vivo per lei

Vivo Per Lei Spanish lyrics /  Letras Español
Vivo por Ella

Vivo por ella sin saber
Si la encontré o me ha encontrado
Ya no recuerdo como fue
Pero al final me ha conquistado
Vivo por ella que me da
Toda mi fuerza de verdad
Vivo por ella y no me pesa

Vivo por ella yo también
No te me pongas tan celoso
Ella entre todas es la más
Dulce y caliente como un beso
Ella a mi lado siempre está
Para apagar mi soledad
Más que por mi por ella
Yo vivo también

Es la musa que me invita
A tocarla suavecita
En mi piano a veces triste
La muerte no existe
Si ella esta aqui
Vivo por ella que me da
Todo el afecto que le sale
A veces pega de verdad

Pero es un puño que no duele
Vivo por ella que me da
Fuerza, valor y realidad
Para sentirme un poco vivo
Cómo duele cuando falta
Vivo por ella en un hotel
Cómo brilla fuerte y alta
Vivo por ella en propia piel

Si ella canta en mi garganta
Mis penas mas negras espanto
Vivo por ella y nadie mas
Puede vivir dentro de mi
Ella me da la vida, la vivo
Sí está junto a mi
Sí está junto a mi

Desde un palco o contra un muro
Vivo por ella al límite
En el trance mas oscuro
Vivo por ella íntegra
Cada día una conquista
La protagonista
Es ella también

Vivo por ella porque va
Dándome simpre la salida
Porque la música es asi
Fiel y sincera de por vida
Vivo por ella que me da
Noches de amor y libertad
Si hubiese otra vida, la vivo
Por ella también

Ella se llama música
Yo vivo también
Vivo por ella créeme
Por ella también
Yo vivo per lei
Yo vivo
Per lei

Je vis pour elle (Bocelli & Hélène Ségara)
Je vis pour elle
Vivo per lei da quando sai
La prima volta l'ho incontrata
Non mi ricordo come ma
Mi é entrata dentro e c'é restata
Vivo per lei perché mi fa
Vibrare forte l'anima

Vivo per lei lo so mi fa

Title: Scarborough Fair
Artist: Simon and Garfunkel
Album :
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme
Date of Release : 1966
Genre : Folk rock

Introduction

Scarborough is a small Yorkshire town on the coast of England. The "Scarborough Fair" was a popular gathering in Medieval times, attracting traders and entertainers from all over the country. The  fair started every August 15th and lasted 45 days. In the 1600s, mineral waters were found in Scarborough and it became a resort town.

"Scarborough Fair" is a traditional English Ballard, it relates the tale of a young man who instructs the listener to tell his former love to perform for him a series of impossible tasks, such as making him a shirt without a seam and then washing it in a dry well, adding that if she completes these tasks he will take her back. Often the song is sung as a duet, with the woman then giving her lover a series of equally impossible tasks, promising to give him his seamless shirt once he has finished.

In Medieval England, it became a popular folk song as Bards would sing it when they traveled from town to town. The author of the song is unknown, and many different versions exist.

As the versions of the ballad known under the title "Scarborough Fair" are usually limited to the exchange of these impossible tasks, many suggestions concerning the plot have been proposed, including the hypothesis that it is about the Great Plague of the late Middle Ages. The lyrics of "Scarborough Fair" appear to have something in common with an obscure Scottish ballad, The Elfin Knigh which has been traced as far back as 1670 and may well be earlier. In this ballad, an elf threatens to abduct a young woman to be his lover unless she can perform an impossible task ("For thou must shape a sark to me / Without any cut or heme, quoth he"); she responds with a list of tasks that he must first perform ("I have an aiker of good ley-land / Which lyeth low by yon sea-strand").

The melody is in Dorian mode, and is very typical of the middle English period.

As the song spread, it was adapted, modified and rewritten to the point that dozens of versions existed by the end of the 18th century, although only a few are typically sung nowadays. The references to the traditional English fair, "Scarborough Fair" and the refrain "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme" date to 19th century versions and the refrain may have been borrowed from the ballad Riddles Wisely Expounded, which has a similar plot. A number of older versions refer to locations other than Scarborough Fair, including Wittingham Fair, Cape Ann, "twixt Berwik and Lyne", etc. Many versions do not mention a place-name and are often generically titled ("The Lovers' Tasks", "My Father Gave Me an Acre of Land", etc.).

Paul Simon learned about this song when he was on tour in England in 1965, where he heard a version by a popular folk singer named Martin Carthy, who in turn had picked up the tune from the songbook by Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger and used in his 1965 album.

When Carthy heard Simon & Garfunkel's rendition, he accused Simon of stealing his arrangement. Carthy and Simon did not speak until 2000, when Simon asked Carthy to perform this with him at a show in London. Carthy put his differences aside and did the show.

Paul Simon admitted to the July 2011 edition of Mojo magazine: "The version I was playing was definitely what I could remember of Martin's version, but he didn't teach it to me. Really, it was just naivety on my part that we didn't credit it as his arrangement of a traditional tune. I didn't know you had to do that. Then later on, Martin's publisher contacted me and we made a pretty substantial monetary settlement that he was supposed to split with Martin, But unbeknown to me, Martin got nothing."

The lyrics are about a man trying to attain his true love. In Medieval times, the herbs mentioned in the song represented virtues that were important to the lyrics. Parsley was comfort, sage was strength, rosemary was love, and thyme was courage. This was not released as a single until 1968, when it was used in the Dustin Hoffman movie The Graduate.

Before Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan has also borrowed the melody and several lines, such as, "Remember me to one who lives there, she once was a true love of mine" in his 1963 song "Girl From The North Country."

In Simon & Garfunkel`s version, they set it in counterpoint with "Canticle" – a reworking of the lyrics from Simon's 1963 anti-war song, "The Side of a Hill", set to a new melody composed mainly by Art Garfunkel. The first and last verses are "Scarborough Fair," but lines from "Canticle" alternate after the first line of the other verses, so "On the side of a hill in a deep forest green" and "Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground" are from "Canticle."

So this song is also often listed as "Scarborough Fair/Canticle."

lyrics

Male part:

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
Remember me to one who lives there,
For she was once a true love of mine.
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
Without any seam or needlework,
Then she shall be a true love of mine.
Tell her to wash it in yonder well,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
Where never sprung water or rain ever fell,
And she shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell her to dry it on yonder thorn,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
Which never bore blossom since Adam was born,
Then she shall be a true lover of mine.

Female part:

Now he has asked me questions three,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
I hope he'll answer as many for me,
Before he shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell him to buy me an acre of land,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
Between the salt water and the sea sand,
Then he shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell him to plough it with a ram's horn,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
And sow it all over with one peppercorn,
And he shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell him to sheer't with a sickle of leather,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme;
And bind it up with a peacock's feather,
And he shall be a true lover of mine.
Tell him to thrash it on yonder wall,
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme,
And never let one corn of it fall,
Then he shall be a true lover of mine.
When he has done and finished his work.
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme:
Oh, tell him to come and he'll have his shirt,
And he shall be a true lover of mine.

Title:                        The sound of Silence
Artist:                      Simon and Garfunkel
Album :
Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.
Release date :          1964
Genre :                     Pop

Lyrics

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared
No one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools," said I, "you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sound of silence"

This is the original version from 1964 from the album "Wednesday Morning, 3 AM." Just Simon's guitar and the vocals. The famous version was released in 1966. After "Wednesday Morning, 3 AM" flopped, they split up. Without either their knowledge, electric guitars and drums were added and that version of The Sound of Silence became very popular, reaching #1 on the charts in America on New Years Day, 1966. Because of this, Simon and Garfunkel teamed up again and created three more studio albums, one of which one a Grammy award for album of the year and song of the year (Bridge Over Troubled Water).

Joe Dassin : (5 November 1938 - 20 August 1980)
was one of France's most popular singers during the late '60s and '70s, initially building his name with stylized adaptations of folk and country material from his birthplace. As his career blossomed, Dassin turned increasingly to traditional-style chansons penned by some of the genre's best writers, scoring an all-time classic with his 1975 smash "L'Eté Indien." Notorious for his perfectionism, Dassin could play the introverted romantic, but his persona also played off of American archetypes and imagery. His premature death of a heart attack in 1980 robbed French pop of one of its greatest modern-day practitioners.

Paroles-lyrics:

Et si tu n'existais pas
Dis-moi pourquoi j'existerais?
Pour traîner dans un monde sans toi
Sans espoir et sans regret

Et si tu n'existais pas
J'essayerai d'inventer l'amour

Je me sentirais perdu
J'aurais besoin de toi

Et si tu n'existais pas
Dis-moi comment j'existerais?
Je pourrais faire semblant d'être moi
Mais je ne serais pas vrai

Et si tu n'existais pas
Je crois que je l'aurais trouvé
Le secret de la vie, le pourquoi
Simplement pour te créer
Et pour te regarder
.........

Et si tu n'existais pas
Dis-moi pourquoi j'existerais?
Pour traîner dans un monde sans toi
Sans espoir et sans regret

Et si tu n'existais pas
J'essayerai d'inventer l'amour

Title: Song to the moon
Source: Opera Rusalka Op114 Act. I
Composer: Antonín Dvořák (8 September 1841 – 1 May 1904)
Release time: 1900

A rusalka is a water sprite from Slavic mythology or folklore, usually inhabiting a lake or river.

The amicable old Spirit of the Lake, Jezibab, is enjoying the singing of the Wood Nymphs, when his daughter, Rusalka, sadly approaches him. She admits that she has fallen in love with a handsome prince. Yearning to know the bliss of union with him, she wishes to become human. Deeply saddened, the Spirit of the Lake consents to her request, and leaves. All alone, Rusalka sings this magnificent aria and shares the secrets of her longing to the moon.

The Czech libretto was written by the poet Jaroslav Kvapil (1868–1950) based on the fairy tales of Karel Jaromír Erben and Božena Němcová. Antonín Dvořák, who was always interested in Erben's stories, read the libretto and composed his opera quite rapidly, with the first draft begun on 22 April 1900 and completed by the end of November.

The most popular excerpt from Rusalka is the "Song to the Moon" ("Měsíčku na nebi hlubokém") from act 1, which is often performed in concert and recorded separately.

Original libretto in Czech

Mesiku na nebi hlubokem
Svetlo tve daleko vidi,
Po svete bloudis sirokem,
Divas se v pribytky lidi.
Mesicku, postuj chvili
reckni mi, kde je muj mily
Rekni mu, stribmy mesicku,
me ze jej objima rame,
aby si alespon chvilicku
vzpomenul ve sneni na mne.

Zasvet mu do daleka,
rekni mu, rekni m kdo tu nan ceka!
O mneli duse lidska sni,
at'se tou vzpominkou vzbudi!
Mesicku, nezhasni, nezhasni!

Lyrics translation in English version 1: (the most poetic version)

Moon in the dark heavens,
Your light shines far
You roam over the whole world
Gazing into human dwellings
Moon, linger for a moment
Tell me where my beloved is
Tell him, silvery moon,
That my arms reach out to him
Hoping that for a brief moment
He will dream of me

Shine on him, wherever he is,
Tell him of the one who awaits him
If a human soul should dream of me,
May he remember me on awakening
Moon, do not fade away

Lyrics translation in English version 2:

Oh Moon on the deep deep sky
Your light can see far
You roam all the vast world
Looking in the homes of people
Oh Moon, stay for a while
Tell me, tell me where my loved is
Tell him, oh silver Moon
That my arm embraces him
So he at least for a little while
Remembers me in his dreams
Give him light on his way
Tell him, oh tell him who is waiting for him here!
Is the human soul dreaming of me...

Let him awake by the memory!
Oh Moon, keep shining, keep shining!

Lyrics translation in English version 3:

Moon, high and deep in the sky
Your light sees far,
You travel around the wide world,
and see into people's homes.
Moon, stand still a while
and tell me where is my dear.
Tell him, silvery moon,
that I am embracing him.
For at least momentarily
let him recall of dreaming of me.
Illuminate him far away,
and tell him, tell him who is waiting for him!
If his human soul is, in fact, dreaming of me,
may the memory awaken him!
Moonlight, don't disappear, disappear!

Lyrics translation in Italian

Piccola luna, così alta nel cielo,
la tua luce mi trafigge da lontano,
tu erri per il vasto mondo,
tu vedi le cose degli umani.
Piccola luna, fermati un istante,
dimmi dov’è il mio amore!

E digli, piccola luna d’argento,
e digli quanto l’aspetto!

E se io apparissi in sogno,
a quest’anima umana,
forse si sveglierebbe con il ricordo!
Ah, piccola luna, non nasconderti,
non nasconderti, non nasconderti!

buscalo...
Y dile,
dile que lo espero aqui
Buscalo por el vasto mundo,
buscalo...
Y dile,
dile que lo espero aqui

Y si soy yo
con quien su alma sueña...
que este pensamiento
lo despierte

Luna,
No te vayas, no te vayas,
Luna!
No te vayas...

Tant de belles choses, is both the title of Francoise Hardy´s 24th album and the title of one of its songs, released on 16 November 2004.

Francoise Hardy wrote this song for her son Thomas when she was ill, as he was very concerned about her health.

paroles-lyrics

même s'il me faut lâcher ta main
tu as tant de belles choses à vivre encore...
tu verras au bout du tunnel
se dessiner un arc-en-ciel
et refleurir les lilas
tu as tant de belles choses devant toi...

Speak softly love (sung by Andy Williams)
Lyrics:

Speak softly, love and hold me warm against your heart
I feel your words, the tender trembling moments start
We're in a world, our very own
Sharing our love that only few have ever known
Wine-colored days warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights when we are one
Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make will live until we die
My life is yours and all because
You came into my world with love so softly love

Wine-colored days warmed by the sun
Deep velvet nights when we are one

Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky
The vows of love we make will live until we die
My life is yours and all because
You came into my world with love so softly love

French: Parle plus bas ( Marie Laforêt)
Paroles:

Insieme a te io resterò,
Insieme a te io resterò,

Spanish: Amor Hablame dulcement (sung by Andy Williams)

Letras:

Estoy sintiendo tu perfume embriagador
Y tus palabras susurrar a media voz

Chaque saison était notre saison d'aimer

Si tu n'as rien oublié
Comme moi qui n'ai rien oublié

Title: Belle
Release: 1998
Lyrics: Luc Plamondon (2 March 1942, Quebec Canada)
Music: Richard Cocciante (20 February 1946, Saigon Vietnam)
Interpretation: Original: Garou, Daniel Lavoie, Patrick Fiori
Belle Notre Dame de Paris lyrics

Quasimodo (Garou)
À quoi me sert encore de prier Notre-Dame
Quel

Lyrics/ Parole Francais

Sous le ciel de Paris
S'envole une chanson
Hum hum
Elle est née d'aujourd'hui
Dans le cœur d'un garçon
Sous le ciel de Paris
Marchent des amoureux
Hum hum
Leur bonheur se construit
Sur un air fait pour eux
Sous le pont de Bercy
Un philosophe assis
Deux musiciens quelques badauds
Puis les gens par milliers
Sous le ciel de Paris
Jusqu'au soir vont chanter
Hum hum
L'hymne d'un peuple épris
De sa vieille cité
Près de Notre Dame
Parfois couve un drame
Oui mais à Paname
Tout peut s'arranger
Quelques rayons
Du ciel d'été
L'accordéon
D'un marinier
L'espoir fleurit
Au ciel de Paris
Sous le ciel de Paris
Coule un fleuve joyeux
Hum hum
Il endort dans la nuit
Les clochards et les gueux
Sous le ciel de Paris
Les oiseaux du Bon Dieu
Hum hum
Viennent du monde entier
Pour bavarder entre eux
Et le ciel de Paris
A son secret pour lui
Depuis vingt siècles il est épris
De notre Ile Saint Louis
Quand elle lui sourit
Il met son habit bleu
Hum hum
Quand il pleut sur Paris
See'est qu'il est malheureux
Quand il est trop jaloux
De ses millions d'amants
Hum hum
Il fait gronder sur nous
Son tonnerre éclatant
Mais le ciel de Paris
N'est pas longtemps cruel
Hum hum
Pour se faire pardonner
Il offre un arc en ciel

Song name: Mon amant de Saint-Jean
Release:      1942
Music:         Emile Carrara
Lyrics:         Léon Agel
Parole:

title: Helene, Je m'appelle Helene
Release: 1993
Music:
Gérard Salesses
Lyrics: Jean-François Porry
Singer: Hélène Rollès
The song was created by Jean-François Porry for his TV serie Hélène et les Garçons as one of the theme songs, the tv serie itself was just a sitcom like American TV serie Friends chronicling a few teenagers's sentiments and their college life, but several songs of the series were very beautiful, evoking an innocent epoque, and this song is the most beautiful, melodic and simple.

Je m'appelle Hélène Parole:

Hélène
Je m'appelle Hélène
Je suis une fille
Comme les autres

Hélène
J'ai mes joies mes peines
Elles font ma vie
Comme la vôtre

Je voudrais trouver l'amour
Simplement trouver l'amour

Hélène
Je m'appelle Hélène
Je suis une fille
Comme les autres

Hélène
Si mes nuits sont pleines
De rêves de poèmes
Je n'ai rien d'autre

Je voudrais trouver l'amour
Simplement trouver l'amour

Et même
Si j'ai ma photo
Dans tous les journaux
Chaque semaine

Personne
Ne m'attend le soir
Quand je rentre tard
Personne ne fait battre mon cur
Lorsque s'éteignent les projecteurs

Hélène
Je m'appelle Hélène
Je suis une fille comme les autres

Je voudrais trouver l'amour
Simplement trouver l'amour

Et même
Quant à la télé
Vous me regardez
Sourire et chanter

Personne
Ne m'attend le soir
Quand je rentre tard
Personne ne fait battre mon cur
Lorsque s'éteignent les projecteurs

Hélène
Je m'appelle Hélène
Je suis une fille
Comme les autres

Hélène
Et toutes mes peines
Trouverons l'oubli
Un jour ou l'autre

Quand je trouverai l'amour
Quand je trouverai l'amour

Ad lib...

The Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung adapted the song into Cantonese, calling it Lixianglan, with the meaning of the song different from that of the original song of Koji Tamaki. In 1993, Jacky Cheung adapted it into Chinese Mandarin, calling it Late Autumn.
Numerous singers have performed the Mandarin version since Jacky Cheung.

But the most famous interpretation was that of Dimash
Kudaibergen, the Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist performed the Chinese Version of this song:  "Late Autumn" (Chinese: 秋意浓), when he participated in the competition "I am singer" held by Hunan Television of China. He sang it in the Episode 4 of the competition and it was his first time to sing in Chinese mandarin.

He came from Bologna but had a profund love of ocean and south Italy, in particular Naples, in fact the song Caruso he wrote in memory of the first great Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso was not written in official Italian, but Naples dialect.

About the inspiration of this song, there are many different versions, the most sad and beautiful one is this: When Enrico Caruso passed by Sorrento, his ship was broken down and his friends invited him to stay in Sorrento. Later, Caruso would go back there to die, and in his last days, he would stay in the same hotel, giving singing lessons to a beautiful girl with whom he was in love with. According to the doctor, he was not supposed to sing anymore because he had lung cancer, but his love of that young girl was so strong he had to sing to her, and two days later, he died.

Lucio Dalla went there several times to better feel Sorrento and the last days of the great tenor, and in the summer of 1986, he wrote Caruso.

Ti fan scordarele parole confondonoi pensieri
[RITORNELLO] (x2)

There are many variations of performance by different singers, both in Italian and other languages, I like most French and Spanish version sung by French singer Mireille Mathieu, I think her poetic voice and unique sensitivity best expressed Lucio Dalla's love of Sorrento and the great Enrico Caruso.

Mireille Mathieu Sang Caruso in French

sLyrics in French version 1 (the version sung by Mireille Mathieu)

Mireille Mathieu sang Caruso in Spanish

Caruso lyrics in Spanish version 1 (the version sung by Mireille Mathieu )

Donde brillan los mares
y sopla fuerte el viento.
En un viejo balcón,
frente al golfo de Sorrento
Un hombre abraza a una mujer,
sin contener el llanto.
Se despide un vez más,
y vuelve a empezar el canto.
Te quiero tanto amor.
Te quiero tanto, tanto y tu lo sabes bien.
Y en la distancia amor,
hoy suenan mas que nunca tus palabras.
Donde hay luz entre las sombras,
como el brillo de una estrella.
Va dejando tras el barco,
una infinita estela.

Otra gira, otras ciudades,
otra vez lejos de sus brazos.
Todo gira en torno a él,
y los años van pasando.
Otra carta, una llamada,
los recuerdos ya son cientos.
Hay lagrimas en sus ojos,
y su voz es un lamento.
Te quiero tanto amor.
Te quiero tanto, tanto y tu lo sabes bien.
Y en la distancia amor,
hoy suenan más que nunca tus palabras.
Pronto llegará a su tierra,
a su patria tan querida.
pero sabe que es muy tarde,
apenas ya le queda vida.
Toda su fuerza y su energía,
se la ha dejado a América.
Y ahora regresa casi acabada,
a su amor que aún la espera.
Solo quedan más allá,
los triunfos y los fracasos.
Solo los sueños de un ayer,
de la espuma tras el barco.
Y así cerca del final,
su corazón se va apagando.
Y no habrá más despedidas,
y vuelve a empezar el canto.
Te quiero tanto amor.
Te quiero tanto, tanto y tu lo sabes bien.
Yen la distancia amor,
hoy suenan más que nunca tus palabras.
Te quiero tanto amor.
Te quiero tanto tanto y tu lo sabes bien.
Y en la distancia amor,
hoy suenan mas que nunca tus palabras.
