C.Z. guest is an American socialite, style icon, writer, horsewoman, as well as gardener.
After marrying Winston Frederick Churchill Guest (second cousin to Winston Churchill), an heir to the Phipps fortune in 1947, C.Z. Guest became one of the most photographed and covered society figures for more than half a century, whoes name was closely connected with Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Truman Capote, Cecil Beaton, Diana Vreeland, Ernest Hemingway.
Unlike Duchess of Windsor, another style icon of her time who liked to combine simply lined outfits with over stated jewelry , C. Z. Guest had a more simple taste and stuck to the same classic all American, at times sporty style all of her life.
Ralph Lauren says his muse is Audrey Hepburn, but C.Z. guest seems a more likely source of his inspiration.

C.Z made her society debut in 1937, and two years later was voted the glamour girl of Masachusetts North Shore in a contest.

Besides being a society lady, C.Z.Guest loves gardening and horse riding and she wrote a syndicated weekly colume called `Garden Talk` which appeared in more than 350 newspapers.
In 1976, she suffered an accident while riding and had to rest in bed, she decided to write a book on gardening, which would be called First Garden. She later also wrote a childen book called Tiny Green Thumbs.

In 1985, C.Z.Guest designed a small collection of cashmere sweaters, which was presented in the fasion show of her friend and one of favorite fashion designers Adolfo, and the following year she did licensing for a limited sportswear line. In 1990, she made a fragrant insect repellent and some other garden products.
Last years:
In the last years of her life, C.Z. Guest suffered from cancer, but she never let it affect her style. She used scarves to cover her head after losing her hair. More importantly, she never allow the disease to stop her from enjoying life to the full and to the last minute.
