"Dancing is my gift and my life...God gave me this gift to bring delight to others. I am haunted by this need to dance. It is the purest expresssion of every emotion, earthly and spiritual. It is happiness. "-Anna Pavlova

"It is by the steady elimination of everything which is ugly - thoughts and words no less than tangible objects - and by the substitution of things of true and lasting beauty that the whole progress of humanity proceeds." -Anna Pavlova
style code: She is a prima ballerina and a woman of her time, an Edwardian lady with neatly combed hair, pearl necklaces, fine laces and flowing skirts and gowns.
Anna Pavlova's choice of pet is very unusal: swans. She feeds them, talks to them, immitates them, and loves them, particularly her favorite swan: Jack.
The music piece of the dying swan of about 3 minute and half, was originally part of the French composer Camille Saint-Saens’ music suite The Carnival of the Aanimals, and was called Swan (le cygne). In 1905, Anna Pavlova asked Mikhai Fokine to create a short ballet solo for her, and called it The dying swan after the poem of same name by Lord Alfred Tennyson.
Since her premier performance at a gala in the Noblemen's Hall, St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday, 22 December 1905, Anna Pavlova has performed this solo over 4000 Times, and it became her signature dance, and the title The dying swan is forever associated with this dance solo.
